JUNIOR GIRLS (G12-G18/20)

JUNIOR GIRLS COMPETITION
G12-G18/20

Football has passed netball to become the most popular girls sport in Australia, and the Lane Cove Football Club wants to continue to grow and promote girls on the field as much as possible. We could be fielding the next generation of the W-League or the Matildas right here in Lane Cove! Click here to learn more about Football Pathways.

DIAMOND LEAGUE G12-G18/20

Lane Cove Football Club in 2021 were awarded a Diamond League licence. Diamond League is a girls-only competition that will enable girls to develop their technical football skills and “football confidence” far more quickly in a girls-only environment. The competition was created to bridge the gap between representative football and club football with access to highly accredited coaches. This league is for players seeking to develop their skills in a more competitive environment.

The aim of Diamond League is to provide a quality level of competition to our players by implementing minimum coaching and training standards, while underpinning the Northern Tigers FC representative teams in the NPL New South Wales competitions.

Diamond League operates across the following age groups: G12, G14, G16 and G18/20. Teams train twice weekly, and games are played Sunday mornings.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR TRIALS

Trial sessions are scheduled for November each year for all Development League levels. All players intending to trial as part of the Development Leagues need to register for the trials.

TRIALS ARE NOW CLOSED

Players will need to register with LCFC (club registration) following the trials. This fee varies according to the age group. For further information about our Development Leagues please email admin@lcfc.com.au or youthtd@lcfc.com.au.

The Lane Cove Development Leagues are offered in addition to Lane Cove FC’s ongoing commitment to community-based football and aims to offer players of all backgrounds and capabilities an opportunity to play ‘the world game’ in a friendly and welcoming environment. The diverse range of MiniRoos, Juniors, and Senior teams caters to all standards of players in age groups ranging from Under 6 to adult men and women.

We encourage you to attend as many trials as possible so that there is the best exposure for your child to be seen and assessed by the coaches. Furthermore, if your child has an “off day” then they will have a better chance at getting in if the coaches can see them trial on multiple occasions when they also are in peak form! If you can attend all of them that’s great and what we recommend, if you can’t we understand, and many children will be in the same position with other conflicts.

COMMUNITY LEAGUE G12-G18

Each year Lane Cove FC would love to field girls teams from G8-G18. We just need enough interest across all age groups, so please register now and encourage your friends! LCFC registers girls teams in the following age groups: G8, G9, G10, G11, G12, G13, G14 and G16s.

LCFC are committed to creating the best experience for our upcoming female players, and in 2020 introduced a training roster that enabled girls teams to train alongside other girls teams, and before our women’s teams. We aim to match our girls teams with LCFC WAA Coaches where we can and look forward to our annual Female Football Week celebrations where our female teams have themed training nights, joint training opportunities and many other surprises throughout the week.

All girls of all ages are welcome and encouraged to give football a go, no matter their experience or ability! Our friendly community Club understands the balance between having fun and being competitive in a team environment. Training for girls teams are usually one night a week at Blackman Park and games are on Sunday mornings.

If you have any further questions, please contact LCFC on admin@lcfc.com.au. We look forward to having a growing number of girls teams playing for Lane Cove FC this year and into the future!

GENERAL SEASON INFORMATION

Winter Season begins normally the first week of April and runs through till the end of August on Sundays for girls teams between 8.30am and 1.00pm. Training begins once the children are selected into teams, and coaches are appointed and provided with their kit. This is generally by the middle of March for non-development league teams.

Parent participation with coaching and managing the teams is highly valued and helps our teams succeed. Lane Cove FC provides detailed coaches and managers manuals. Coaches are strongly encouraged to attend a “Grass-roots” coaching course where you will be taught the essential coaching skills. If you commit to coaching a team, the club will pay for this course which is generally run early in the season. Further information can be found under Coaches.

The Club provides playing shirts (which must be returned), and all training equipment for the teams. Players need to purchase shorts, socks, shinpads and boots. The socks and shorts can be purchased online during registration (shorts $22.00 & socks $11.00). Other football equipment is available from any sports store, but we would recommend visiting Rebel Sports. Make sure you tell them at the checkout that you are part of Lane Cove FC!

GRADING AND SELECTIONS FOR JUNIORS

For teams not within the Diamond League & Super League competitions, trials for all Junior age groups generally occur in mid-February – dates to be announced early February.

IMPORTANT: Different age-groups will have trials on different evenings and information will be sent to you if you have registered prior. It is very important that all players attend ALL trials so that we can make sure they are in the right teams.

Want to play with friends?

We have found that children generally play best when grouped with players on par with their playing capabilities. However, we acknowledge that some kids may prefer to be playing with their friends; while LCFC will make every effort to ensure our players are happy we cannot guarantee that every request will be accommodated. We are confident in our grading process and upon that process we will be able to deliver better training programs to improve football skills and overall game play making it more fun for everyone. If you have any further questions, please contact LCFC on admin@lcfc.com.au. We look forward to having a growing number of teams playing for Lane Cove FC this year and into the future.
